Computer Science Opportunities, Development & Education in Rural Schools (CODERS) is a program funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Education, Innovation & Research program in January 2021. The goal was to work with teachers and students in rural school districts in Missouri and level the 21st century playing field with computer science, coding, computational thinking, writing, literacy, and music. The grant provides CODERS Kits to faculty in all disciplines (science, math, music, elementary, middle school, and STEAM courses) in the schools to engage students in 21st century literacies. The Kits included microbits, Cutebots, Robot Dogs, Smart Home kits, drones, batteries, etc.  The faculty in these schools have developed the CODERS modules to faciltate learning in their grade level and within their content area. Professors in English, Computer Science, Physics, Elementary Literacy, Elementary Math, and Languages developed modules that teachers worked through as students during the summer launch and implemented with their students the following school year. Summer Launches have taken place in 2021, 2022, and 2023. The 2024 Summer Launch will take place June 4-6, 2024.
